Replace FTP with Secure Web Based File Transfer
FTP file transfer as legacy technology does not meet modern business requirement. Limited security, no encryption, and no audit are just a few of its shortcomings. Add to that the complexity of management and it is clear why a modern business will require an FTP Alternative.
RepliWeb Managed File Transfer (RMFT) offers web based file transfer that answers business needs for FTP replacement:
- Web Based - Simple, intuitive web interface. External users need only a browser to send and receive files.
- Secured - SSL Encryption & Authentication, certificates, internal / external rules.
- Fully Audited – For regulatory compliance and non repudiation.
- Reliable – Recovery at block level and multiple files transaction. Files sent will be processed only once complete.
- DMZ front end – Unique architecture for receiving data without any incoming connection.
- Easy to manage – define users using GUI or API, Active Directory integration. Define ad-hoc users.
Users Use Their Browser
Simple, intuitive web interface, for users to send and receive files with text metadata attached. Email like interface with no need to install any client makes RMFT easy to deploy and use.
Secured
With support of digital signatures, SSL encryption, certificates, and end to end data encryption, RMFT offers a secure FTP replacement.
Fully Audited
Any file sent from any user to another user or system or any file downloaded is fully audited.
Reliable
RMFT supports large files transfer with recovery from the point of failure. The files or multiple files sent together are guaranteed to be processed and delivered only once they are complete. No more FTP heuristics like a file is complete and ready if not modified for 30 seconds and over 10 MB. With RMFT the file will arrive only once it is complete.
Easy to Manage
RMFT offers the ultimate flexibility in managing users or systems that send or receive files. The definition of users offers server side controlled expiration, notification, and restrictions via a simple GUI or an web service API. If using Active Directory – RMFT uses LDAP to sync with AD users and authenticate them. Just point RMFT to selected Active Directory groups and their users can start using RMFT to send files. Nothing to manage beyond that. Deletion, disabling, or expiring users in AD are automatically reflected in RMFT.
Ad-Hoc-Users File Transfer
When you do not know in advance who you are going to send files to, the complexity of FTP administration leads to unsecured and non audited operations such as anonymous FTP users or multiple people sharing the same account to access the same data. RMFT solves that through support for Ad-Hoc users creation and expiration with zero management. Just send files as a user or application specifying the recipient(s) email address and the accounts that do not exist are created on the fly at the backend according to configurable templates controlling capabilities, account expiration settings, enrollment process, and restrictions.
Internal and External
For organization that need to apply different rules and abilities to internal users and external users, RMFT supports a DMZ front end, completely managed from the internal, relying only on Outgoing connection (No incoming firewall ports). Internal users can use Active Directory and communicate both with internal and external users, where external users can be created Ad Hoc and expire automatically with zero management, just based on the internal need to communicate with them.
